Tennis legend Serena Williams graced the annual Met Gala held in New York, embracing this year’s theme, “The Garden of Time,” with a stunning appearance.
The 23-time Grand Slam champion, aged 42, captivated onlookers in a dazzling golden dress by Balenciaga, as reported by Complex Style. The flowing gown, adorned with reflective elements, was complemented by black opera gloves, golden jewelry, and sleek black heels.
Adding to the regal ensemble was a custom-made golden headpiece designed by Jennifer Behr, as revealed by Marie Claire.
Styled by Kesha McLeod, Williams’ look drew inspiration from Look 52 of Balenciaga’s 51st couture collection, according to Vogue. Crafted from 25 meters of Italian fabric coated with brilliant foil, the dress demanded 150 hours of meticulous workmanship to complete.
Expressing her gratitude for the collaboration with Balenciaga, Williams stated, “It’s truly been an honor to team up with the talented Balenciaga team on such a significant and breathtaking piece.”
She added, “This outfit represents a collective effort to create something truly remarkable, and I’m tremendously proud to be the one to showcase it.”
Additionally, Williams accessorized with a radiant Audemars Piguet Royal Oak watch, chosen to complement the theme of the event. “I love how the sand gold color plays off my dress and how its tone changes depending on the angle and light,” Williams remarked.
While snaps of Williams’ appearance circulated on social media platforms, garnering mixed reactions, fans and fashion enthusiasts praised her impeccable hair, makeup, and headpiece. However, opinions varied on whether the dress adhered to the event’s theme.
