After the great success of the Marvel and Moonlight Star movie, Mahershala Ali bought a luxury villa to welcome the birth of her daughter

Mahershala Ali, the Academy Award-winning actor, is making a return to the East Bay, his hometown roots.

Born in Oakland and raised in Hayward, Ali recently acquired a home in North Hills for a reported sum of nearly $1.2 million, surpassing its initial asking price of $1 million.

This real estate move adds to Ali and his wife Amatus Sami-Karim’s property portfolio, which already includes residences in Los Angeles and Philadelphia.

Renowned for his stellar performances in acclaimed films such as “Moonlight” and “Green Book,” both earning him Oscars for Best Supporting Actor, Mahershala Ali’s career catapulted with his role in Netflix’s “House of Cards.” The power couple, Mahershala Ali and Amatus Sami-Karim, also received an Emmy for their work as executive producers on the HBO documentary “We are the Dream: The Kids of the Oakland Martin Luther King Jr. Oratorical Fest.”

The new home, built in the early 1960s, boasts four bedrooms and three bathrooms, spanning 2,100 square feet of living space.

Characterized by hardwood and tile floors, skylights, and wood-paneled ceilings, the residence exudes a classic charm. The main floor encompasses a fireside living room with walls of windows, a small dining area, and an eat-in kitchen.

Additionally, the main level hosts three bedrooms, including the primary suite with an en-suite bathroom.

The lower level features another bedroom with an en-suite bathroom and a fully equipped kitchen. A family room, complete with a red brick fireplace, opens onto a balcony overlooking the expansive grounds spanning almost a quarter of an acre. This real estate acquisition marks a significant homecoming for Mahershala Ali, bringing him back to the Bay Area where his journey to stardom began.
